ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
Har Jeeo Thoon Karathaa Karathaar ||
हरि जीउ तूं करता करतारु ॥
O Dear Lord, You are the Creator and the Cause.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jio Bhaavai Thio Raakh Thoon Har Naam Milai Aachaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
जिउ भावै तिउ राखु तूं हरि नामु मिलै आचारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Aapae Rathan Parakh Thoon Aapae Mol Apaar ||
आपे रतनु परखि तूं आपे मोलु अपारु ॥
You Yourself are the Jewel, and You are the Appraiser. You Yourself are of Infinite Value.

ਸਾਚਉ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Saacho Maan Mehath Thoon Aapae Dhaevanehaar ||1||

ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੈ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Aapae Gun Aapae Kathhai Aapae Sun Veechaar ||
आपे गुण आपे कथै आपे सुणि वीचारु ॥
O Lord, You are Your Own Glorious Praise. You Yourself speak it; You Yourself hear it and contemplate it.

ਸੇਜੈ ਕੰਤ ਮਹੇਲੜੀ ਸੂਤੀ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Saejai Kanth Mehaelarree Soothee Boojh N Paae ||
सेजै कंत महेलड़ी सूती बूझ न पाइ ॥
The Husband is on the Bed, but the bride is asleep, and so she does not come to know Him.

ਹਉ ਸੁਤੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
Ho Suthee Pir Jaaganaa Kis Ko Pooshho Jaae ||
हउ सुती पिरु जागणा किस कउ पूछउ जाइ ॥
While I am asleep, my Husband Lord is awake. Where can I go for advice?

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਭੈ ਵਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸਖਾਇ ॥੮॥੨॥

सतिगुरि मेली भै वसी नानक प्रेमु सखाइ ॥८॥२॥

ਨਿਸਿ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀ ਸੁਤੀਏ ਕਿਉ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
Nis Andhhiaaree Sutheeeae Kio Pir Bin Rain Vihaae ||
निसि अंधिआरी सुतीए किउ पिर बिनु रैणि विहाइ ॥
Asleep in the darkness of the night, how shall she pass her life-night without her Husband?

ਅੰਕੁ ਜਲਉ ਤਨੁ ਜਾਲੀਅਉ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
Ank Jalo Than Jaaleeao Man Dhhan Jal Bal Jaae ||
अंकु जलउ तनु जालीअउ मनु धनु जलि बलि जाइ ॥
Her limbs shall burn, her body shall burn, and her mind and wealth shall burn as well.

ਜਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤਿ ਨ ਰਾਵੀਆ ਤਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
Jaa Dhhan Kanth N Raaveeaa Thaa Birathhaa Joban Jaae ||7||
जा धन कंति न रावीआ ता बिरथा जोबनु जाइ ॥७॥
When the Husband does not enjoy His bride, then her youth passes away in vain. ||7||

ਨਾਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਮਣੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Naaree Andhar Sohanee Masathak Manee Piaar ||
नारी अंदरि सोहणी मसतकि मणी पिआरु ॥
She is the most beautiful among women; upon her forehead she wears the Jewel of the Lord’s Love.

ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
Sobhaa Surath Suhaavanee Saachai Praem Apaar ||
सोभा सुरति सुहावणी साचै प्रेमि अपार ॥
Her glory and her wisdom are magnificent; her love for the Infinite Lord is True.

ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੬॥
Bin Pir Purakh N Jaanee Saachae Gur Kai Haeth Piaar ||6||
बिनु पिर पुरखु न जाणई साचे गुर कै हेति पिआरि ॥६॥
Other than her Beloved Lord, she knows no man. She enshrines love for the True Guru. ||6||
