ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਗਾ ਆਲਿ ਜੰਜਾਲਿ ॥
Theejai Peharai Rain Kai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Man Lagaa Aal Janjaal ||
तीजै पहरै रैणि कै वणजारिआ मित्रा मनु लगा आलि जंजालि ॥
In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend! man’s mind is occupied in the household entanglements.
ਰਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਭਾਗ ਅੰਦਰ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਸੱਜਣਾ! ਮਨੁਖ ਦਾ ਮਨੁਆ ਘਰੋਗੀ ਪੁਆੜਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੁਝਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਧਨੁ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਵੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
Dhhan Chithavai Dhhan Sanchavai Vanajaariaa Mithraa Har Naamaa Har N Samaal ||
धनु चितवै धनु संचवै वणजारिआ मित्रा हरि नामा हरि न समालि ॥
He thinks, of wealth and gathers wealth, O my merchant friend! but contemplates not over God’s Name and God.7
ਉਹ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੀ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਸੰਜਣਾ! ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
