ਲਾਵੈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਗਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਖਟਿ ਖਵਾਏ ॥
Laavai Maath Pithaa Sadhaa Gal Saethee Man Jaanai Khatt Khavaaeae ||
लावै मात पिता सदा गल सेती मनि जाणै खटि खवाए ॥
The mother and father ever hug him to their bosom. In their mind they know that he will earn and support them.
ਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਓ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਿੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਪਣੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਆੲੈਗਾ।
ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੂੜਾ ਦਿਤੇ ਨੋ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥
Jo Dhaevai Thisai N Jaanai Moorraa Dhithae No Lapattaaeae ||
जो देवै तिसै न जाणै मूड़ा दिते नो लपटाए ॥
The fool knows not Him who gives (the Giver) and clings to what is given (the gift.)
ਮੂਰਖ ਜੋ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ (ਦਾਤਾਰ) ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਤੇ ਹੋਏ (ਦਾਤ) ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
