ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਚਲਨੀ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਹੋਏ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
वाऊ संदे कपड़े पहिरहि गरबि गवार ॥
नानक नालि न चलनी जलि बलि होए छारु ॥२॥
He wears his body, like clothes of wind – what a proud fool he is! O Nanak,
they will not go with him in the end; they shall be burnt to ashes.
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਬਾਰੀਕ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਬੜੀ ਆਕੜ ਨਾਲ ਪਹਿਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ, (ਏਥੇ ਹੀ) ਸੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
मूर्ख मनुष्य सुंदर-सुंदर बारीक कपड़े बड़ी अकड़ से पहनते हैं, पर हे नानक! (मरने पर ये कपड़े जीव के) साथ नहीं जाते, (यहीं) जल के राख हो जाते हैं।
