ਜਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਵਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਦੁ ॥
Jith Than Naam N Bhaavee Thith Than Houmai Vaadh ||
जितु तनि नामु न भावई तितु तनि हउमै वादु ॥
That body which does not appreciate the Naam-that body is infested with egotism and conflict.

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਾਦੁ ॥
Gur Bin Giaan N Paaeeai Bikhiaa Dhoojaa Saadh ||
गुर बिनु गिआनु न पाईऐ बिखिआ दूजा सादु ॥
Without the Guru, spiritual wisdom is not obtained; other tastes are poison.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੀਕਾ ਸਾਦੁ ॥੬॥
Bin Gun Kaam N Aavee Maaeiaa Feekaa Saadh ||6||
बिनु गुण कामि न आवई माइआ फीका सादु ॥६॥
Without virtue, nothing is of any use. The taste of Maya is bland and insipid. ||6||
